# Link preview

A social media link preview image is the image shown next to your website link. It may also be called a preview image, link image, or snippet.

### What image size to use <a href="#id-0d17a0ca-d4d5-4990-a1c9-9f8f9e86c377" id="id-0d17a0ca-d4d5-4990-a1c9-9f8f9e86c377"></a>

It is better to use a horizontal image that is at least 1200 px wide.

**Important:**

* for Facebook, the image is usually cropped vertically to 630 px;
* if you need one universal option, use an image sized 1200 × 630 px.

After you share a link for the first time, a social network may save the text and image in cache. Because of this, the new preview image may not appear right away.

You can clear the cache using our guide: [**How to update link preview** ](/site/en/settings/clear-cache.md)

It is better to use a horizontal image sized 1200 × 630 px.
