# How to update a link preview in social media

After you share a link, a social network usually saves its preview in cache. Because of this, even after you replace the image or text, the link may still show the old version for some time.

To avoid waiting for the automatic update, clear the link cache manually.

### How to update the preview image in Telegram <a href="#f2684e74-0498-4131-bd95-cfae80db42c2" id="f2684e74-0498-4131-bd95-cfae80db42c2"></a>

For Telegram, you can use the [**@WebpageBot**](https://t.me/webpageBot) bot.

### How to update the preview image using the general method <a href="#a9da8452-42df-44b8-ad4d-211c710bcec9" id="a9da8452-42df-44b8-ad4d-211c710bcec9"></a>

This method works if a social network does not have a convenient cache reset tool or if the standard method did not help. You can use it to clear the cache in Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

Copy the page link. Add the `?v=1` parameter to the end of the link.&#x20;

**Example:**

* before: `https://demo.wfolio.pro`
* after: `https://demo.wfolio.pro?v=1`

Make sure the page opens at the new link. Share the link again.

**Why does a social network still show the old image after I change the preview image?**

Because the social network may have saved the old link preview in cache after the first time you shared it.

No. To update the preview, use the `?v=1` parameter.

**Do I need to clear the cache separately in each social network?**

Yes. Each social network has its own cache, so the link may update in one service and not update in another.
